  1. And Mario’s group gets only a B- compared to Lanning and company’s A.
  2. Management strategy: hire the best people you can, then ignore them. No way to run anything.
  3. USC is always awesome and highly rated and just plain unbeatable at this point in the season, year after year. And then?
  4. If Verdell doesn't return, there's not a big crowd in the running back room.
  5. Wow. Who woulda thought? Ouch.
  6. Jon...well reasoned and thought out. I forwarded it to George Kliavkoff. What about coaches? Some rules for them, too?
  7. I would like to push back on the notion that everything now is "all about the benjamins". Money is not the only thing of importance in life to a lot of people, maybe even most people, IMHO. Besides, there will be only so much NIL money in the world, and only many schools that will have it. Oregon is likely to be one. Not every D1 player can fit on the roster of those rich schools. So, those other players are going to have to go somewhere. The rich schools will still be the rich schools, and the others will still have to rely on education, geography, loyalty, and charismatic coaches. I think the landscape may look much the same as it does now, just with higher price tags. Right now, it's the wild west, but some sort of order is going to come out of this in a year or two. Or, the game may be done.
  8. I sure hope this is still true, and that it will once again become a reality.
  9. Offensive coordinator for Mario Cristobal...where reputations go to die.
  10. I would say the real R on this I comes only with (R)esults on the field.
  11. This is very surprising to me. Why?
  12. Agreed, there are a lot reasons for excitement this off-season, stemming from the hiring of Lanning. I think he looks like the real deal. But, Lanning has never been a HC before; being a good, effective boss can be difficult. He has to get an entire new group of assistants, many of whom are new to their jobs, working as a team (and some of these assistants have had - um - issues in previous jobs). He has a lot to learn, and so do a lot of his assistants. I would expect the occasional hiccup over the coming year, but more from an excess of energy and enthusiasm than from anything else. It will be much better than the dull, plodding, draft-horse style of the Cristobal administration. Unleash the Kraken!
  13. Dollars is now back in, but now Benson is out.
  14. Not optimistic on Moss...all the crystal balls foresee Miami.
  15. It's what happens when you put a Husky in charge.
  16. Who are these Huskies I keep hearing about?
  17. Not shocking, but dang. Jahlil Florence says Ducks still in his top 5.
  18. The Forum With Decorum is great! It’s the Board Without Discord.
  19. Dan Lanning must sleep even less than Charles Fischer.
  20. I think this is true of all sports; great players do not make good coaches. Elite players, as players, relied on their innate abilities. Elite players as coaches, cannot deal with the "ordinary" player and those players' needs for development. Those who need to study the game in order to succeed, can teach it. Plus, coaching is time-consuming and not flashy. Not to mention, all that happens is that you eventually get fired.
  21. College football is in total flux. Where it comes out is anyone’s guess.
  22. Washington fans seem to think that Husky players and coaches have bent the knee, taken a blood oath, and sworn lifetime fealty to the program. A strange sense of entitlement, if you ask me. Players and coaches come and go; get over it.
  23. Cole Martin..."tabbed by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 9 cornerback and No. 88 prospect overall in the 2023 class."
