Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?
30Duck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great article, lots to ponder. On the Beavs, some Beavs fans could feel that I'm insulting, patronizing them by not hating on them, and they could be right. Everything about Washington makes me sick, while I don't want to lose to the Beavs, a loss to them is more like a step off the curb into a puddle so deep I have wet socks the rest of the day. Red Zone. It's definitely not better when you need to score on a breakaway 60 yards run instead of pushing it in from goal to go at the 9, and penalties are a big part of why it gets tough in closed quarters. If our O Line is truly dominant inside the 10, a touchdown should be automatic. -
Oregon Ducks Football: Trap Game in the Desert?

Oregon Alum here and I've never hated the Beavs, that is reserved for the uskies. I absolutely don't want to lose to them, nevermore than back in the 70's in basketball. But generally, when the Beavs are playing I want them to win. -
Bucky Irving Emerging as Lead Back for the Ducks
30Duck replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Great post! It isn't 'touchdown, Bucky Irving!' 3 steps after he gets the ball like it was for LMJ. But Irving has absolutely put the pop back in the running game for the Ducks. -
I'll go the other way. Give me Saban's vanilla over Leach's spoiled milk every time.

Can Lanning Keep This Team from 'Stony-Brooking' It?
30Duck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I can definitely see that, and from the opposite end, Chip's, "faceless opponent" is myopic. To win consistently I think a team needs to be malleable, to see that adjusting is a strength, not a weakness. -

Right along with all the Natty's Alabama has won is there 50 some winning streak against unranked teams. Just looking at it, it isn't that impressive. But, to the point, it's very impressive how Alabama, year after year doesn't let down, Ever Texas, earlier this season would, could, have been an L. But they pulled it out. Last week Georgia was losing to unranked Missouri, but they won at the end. Oregon did it at WSU. That' a good trait to pick up. -
Like Willie Mays in the '74 World Series.

I think theeOhio State would get in over the third SEC team. I would guess another round of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson.

Win Out and a Playoff Spot is Likely There for the Ducks
30Duck replied to RichardDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Well said. I think the Ducks will continue to improve and be much better than they were in Week 1. But I don't think they improve to elite which is what the teams in the championship game are. So, win the Pac-12, win the Rose Bowl, those are goals within their reach. -
I don't dislike Utah, I rooted for them to beat Florida. But in this case, I'm all in for UCLA. UCLA at Oregon, after a BYE, Gameday, Oct.22.
-
Okay, so WSU is going to take care of USC. Done. But what about Utah at UCLA? If the Bruins are still undefeated after that, Chip has something cookin'.
-
No. I don't miss him at all.
-
No doubt a sentiment held by many in Beaver Nation, but the scent of that predominantly comes from the North. U Dud doesn't think Oregon wins any games, gets any players in any sport without Knight. Given that their entire sports program has been mediocre for decades it is easy to understand why they spend more energy barking about Oregon than on their teams.
-
I'm with you. USC is the least worthy No.6 I can remember; they are playing just like we all said they would. "Fight On!" Not with this bunch. They lose to WSU, and then to Utah.
-
Definitely a high quality QB is needed, but the Beavs this year are the perfect fit for a game manager. Nolan left after throwing 5 INT's in the last 5 and a half quarters played. If he'd only thrown 3 instead of 4, the Beavs very likely beat USC.
-
David, I give your rankings an A because it's exactly how mine would look. I'd like to flip OSU and Cal, but the QB situation for the Beavs is so bad that Stanford will probably end up with more points at 11:45 Saturday night.
-
Right, and what they've needed to that is play, Rice, Stanford, Fresno State, Oregon State and ASU.
-
Yes, to your question, penalties are a problem In this case they prevented a blow out, not a win, but that needs to get cleaned up. They didn't get hit for lining up offsides which is unforgiveable, but false starts and personal fouls ae unacceptable. A great run not only taken away, but the team loses yards are killers to an offense and to the defense if a stop is nullified by a flag, after a while huddles become uncomfortable. When a team wants to dominate a game, it can't be giving the opponent breaks with penalties.

AP & Coaches Polls...Look at the Comparison
30Duck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Now remember, betting on football games is for entertainment only, not an investment plan. I'm all in on the USC parlay, the Trojans are going down...against WSU this week and at Utah next week. If OSU had just thrown 3 INT's, they beat USC. WSU's offense is much more potent than is OSU's. USC's D is big on TO's this season, but I didn't see them forcing the picks against the Beavs, and I don't think they will against the Cougs...and at Utah. I just think the Utes roll over them. Fight Off. -
I agree. But I'm going to believe that helps Oregon in this case. WSU was an impressive road win which should pay dividends later on. The pass defense was actually improved from the WAU game, all the penalties the Ducks accrued put a blemish on their performance. But throughout the game, it was great hearing the announcers go on and on about how lethal Oregon's offense was, and ii is. Since Georgia the only team to stop Oregon from scoring has been Oregon; take away the penalties from the Stanford game and it's close to EWU. I'm thinking that the lack of discipline is uppermost in Lanning's mind and will be dealt with.

Scooby isn't playing at Arizona anymore, -11.5 seems like a reasonable starting point spread for a Monday. -

Tough two in a row for the Beavers, USC, then Utah on the road. Cal at WSU, Bears RB, Jaydn Ott ran for 274 yards last week against Arizona. -
