Has Lanning Fixed the Duck Defense’s Soft Underbelly?
Just Ducky replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I guess we were all pretty much baffled at how bad our front seven was last year. Lots of star power with no results. Hard for me to blame the coaches when our linebackers were totally out of position making it to easy on the opposing offense to gain yardage at will and our lineman getting very little pressure on the QB. Plus lack of effort. Last years defense was the worst defense I can remember in Eugene and I can’t wait to wash that memory out of my head. Opposing coaches were licking their chops on 3rd and 4th down. We played defense on our heels pretty much all the time. The Beavs made us look like high school players. Our schedule is a tough one this year and I am confident that our offense has the skill to win every game. If our defense can improve into a top 30 defense then I think we will witness a very enjoyable season. Go s -
Thank you.

Trojan Fans BUTT-HURT Over Lanning/Oregon Recruiting
Just Ducky replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Expect more of this now that the 2 wanna be schools are leaving the pack. -
QUAAACK! Oregon Nabs Commitment From Four-Star Safety Aaron Flowers

Good to see another Texas kid in the fold. Nice solid start for the Ducks coaching staff. I hope we can get more studs in the front seven. Badly needed. -
Jackson Shelstad - Best Player On the Floor at Hoop Summit

West Linn has been turning out studs since the 60’s. Hope it continues. Everyone remember Clark Hoss, to bad he chose the Beavs. -
FUTURE MEMBER? REGARDLESS, HATS OFF TO SAN DIEGO STATE
Just Ducky replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
The two la schools are gone so I see no reason not to include SDSU in the pack. I believe in football they have won more games against the pack the last 10 years than the pack have won. It has the potential of keeping some of the fair weather recruits in the pack and gives a California presence that is needed desperately. If this doesn’t get accomplished I consider this a huge failure by GK. -
Canzano: Bring on the Invite for San Diego State
Just Ducky replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I already made the call but no one would listen to me. -
With all this nil money flowing into college sports you would think more 5 stars would stick around longer. Guess it proves that the money for these kids has always been there and in one form or another always will be. As far as The power 5 conferences not performing up to the status that we expect in basketball or other sports it is much easier to put together a team with 7 studs than it is with 45 which Kirby and Nick always seem to get. Plus the kids that pick Gonzaga for instance might be going there for an education as an example. With a good point guard and a couple of bigs that can shoot a free throw at the end of a close game can be all you need to win in basketball these days.

Pretty obvious to me that shooting the ball accurately from anywhere on the floor was this teams weakness. One observation is the three point line seems to be a magnet for the offense most of the time. The art of the mid range jumper has lost its luster with players and coaches alike. Get rid of the 3 point line and we might see actual offensive plays once again. To me driving towards the hoop and tossing the ball out for a low percentage 3 point shot is not offense. The art of the back door play is disappearing. As far as Dana being upset with the crowd then win the games you are supposed to win, make the show, and you won’t have to worry about having low attendance to an nit home game.

Hate to admit this but I am so disappointed in college basketball that I haven’t watched a complete game that the Ducks were not involved in this year. I also didn’t invest a dime in it for the first time in like forever. Expansion of the NBA and free agency and the one year spoiled brats now playing the game has deemed it unwatchable. It’s MHO that college sports are in serious trouble. In 6 years live sports may go away like the rabbit ears. Streaming may be the only option. The common fan is being priced out and if not for corporate tax wright offs, which may not always be there, the product would already be in serious trouble. We might however be able to afford a ticket. Thankfully I’m at the age where I may not see the demise of it all but my children just might. As long as the Ducks are still breathing air I will continue to watch but the rest of this stuff has already lost me.

Canzano: Pac-12 Waiting Game Enters March Madness
Just Ducky replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Now that social media has taken over our lives it’s funny how everything needs to happen yesterday. The pack? Is likely to stay alive with 14 to 16 members. For the Ducks sake jumping ship might be a huge mistake. I’ve waited a long time for a natty in football to come our way and waiting a little longer for George to get this correct doesn’t mean the end of the world. IMHO. -
How to Watch Our Beloved Ducks Baseball Team
Just Ducky replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I won’t even drive that fast. -
I guess my question is was the altercation or his apartment on campus. If either is the case then he is in direct violation of university rules and should not be reinstated. University rules are very clear on this point. If the opposite is the case and he had an Oregon permit to carry a gun legally and lives off campus then I guess he has that right. Still a very sketchy incident to say the least. Either way this is a serious problem for DL to face. I’m sure he will make the correct decision.

Trojan, Bruin Players Will Regret the Move to the Big-10
Just Ducky replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’ve always maintained that both UCLA and usc will will loose recruiting power the longer they continue down the path of self destruction. I think it will be sooner rather than later. But I am willing to wait for the bomb to drop. -
All Charges Against Traeshon Holden Dropped
Just Ducky replied to lownslowav8r's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I would suppose that DL has already discussed the situation with Sabin. Nick or his coaching staff can probably get more information to Lanning on Mr Holden and could assist DL in making his final decision on the character of this young man. He obviously put himself in a bad position to get arrested in the first place and we are trying to guess what the entire situation really is but this doesn’t look good. Welcome to head coaching Dan. -
It’s all about percentages. With all these young athletes, that are coddled since they were 6 years old, coming out of high school it is hard to find one with elite talent plus have the desire to compete for something that is handed to them. The more you have to choose from the better. I remember the day when we had to compete to play and then it became pay to play with everyone receiving participation trophies in the process. My son lost interest in sports and I gave up trying to coach the kids because mommy needed her son to play because she paid for it. I agree Charles that recruiting has come down to mudslinging and from what I’ve seen DL has the guts to do just that. It may be frustrating at times when see a high rated 4 star walking out the door but it happens and will continue to happen. It takes a butt load of energy by the coaching staff and a leader that will not accept less. Lanning has that kind of drive in him and we all hope it lasts. You never know when you are going to find that 3 star that turns into a high draft pick and makes the people around him better. So sling the mud Dan and see where it sticks.

BREAKING: Adrian Klemm Leaves Ducks For New England Patriots
Just Ducky replied to Babyjesus615's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Been a Steeler fan since I was a middle school brat in the early 60’s. When Klemm came to Oregon I was extremely concerned since he coached the worst offensive line Pittsburgh has ever had. I am with Rambis in thinking there is something we don’t know behind this story. It could be he likes the east coast more. Who knows but I’m confused as to why the Patriots would even consider this guy especially after his track record at Pittsburgh. Belichec surprised me with this one. -
Streaming Games: Rough Waters or Gently Down the Stream?
Just Ducky replied to Jon Joseph's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If we have problems with the technology then turning to our grandchildren is easy and it’s free. If you can get them to slow down long enough to comprehend. I have 4 streaming services and the total bill is far less than what I was paying for Comcast. The sooner we cut cable the better off we all will be. -
Opinion: Who Are You Most Excited About In The 2023 Class?
Just Ducky replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’m most excited about DL his staff and their relentless pursuit of speed without sacrificing size. DL is a bulldog of a different sort, granted he made some in game mistakes last season, but I still believe with a healthy Nix we would have been in the playoffs. Making the playoffs with a Defense that bad would have been a shocker to say the least. -
USC Fans Are....a Little Salty Over Pleasant
Just Ducky replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I’m sure the Cali schools don’t want the subject brought up about 2024. La kids have grown up very rarely having to play a football game in foul weather let alone traveling in it. In my opinion the pack schools will be plundering LA schools of their talent, can’t wait to see that happen. Let the sniveling begin. -
Live Updates: Nyckoles Harbor to South Carolina
Just Ducky replied to NJDuck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
After a year to explore the talent ( college girls ) he may want to leap to another level of life. Like new girlfriend or new track coach or new football program. This seems like a backwards step for a kid with elite talent. Transfer portal is probably in his future sooner than later. -
I totally agree with Haywarduc. There is no guarantee that moving to a different conference is the cure and there is not much track record of success. There are so many variables to consider which Oklahoma, Texas, usc, and UCLA are about to find out. I do think however that the pack needs to address the situation and get some more power to the pack in the form of Additional teams. Waiting to long could be the final hole in the ship.
