  1. Oftentimes, such as in this case, quotes are made to look as if a person just declared something, when actually they were responding to someone else's comment.
  2. That's what happens in a section awash in alcohol fumes and drifting smoke. 😉
  3. I had copied from an email I sent to a friend, and when I pasted it in, the font stayed the same. So I left it that way. 🙂
  4. I hope there will be 50,000 there, but in the past I don't think there's been anything close to that. BTW, I saw in a Duck email that there will be free bus shuttles to the Spring Game tomorrow from VRC. That was the first and only time I heard about the buses. Have not heard about them on TV or radio or seen anything on twitter. I hope enough people have heard about the shuttles to make it worthwhile.
  5. Yes, but as I remember, Brenner and Lockie had not practiced with each other at all before that game. I guess no one ever thought they might need that combination in a game.
  6. Lanning does have head-coaching experience. Not in football, but he once led what he said was a “damn good” third grade basketball team. 😄
  7. And in Oregon, the river and lake water too! 🙂
  8. I know I'm sounding like a broken record (and a Mom) when responding to anyone talking about going on/near the water here for any reason, but wear a life jacket! And welcome in advance to Oregon, Eugene, and Autzen!
  9. Since the 100 million part is directed only toward the NCAA, it will be interesting to see how much of that is awarded, if there is a guilty verdict. The players affected are still young, so they have a lot of years to be negatively affected by having to deal with the effects of rhabdomyolysis, and, of course, their lives might also be shortened because of it. Though the movie The Verdict dealt with a totally different health issue, what sticks in my mind is the jury asking if they could award more money that what was being asked for.
  10. From an article in ESPN: The condition, in which skeletal muscle tissue is rapidly broken down and products of that process are released into the bloodstream, caused permanent damage to Brenner's kidneys, and his life expectancy has been reduced by about 10 years, according to the lawsuit. Depending on the severity, rhabdomyolysis can be harmful to the kidneys and might lead to kidney failure, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine. I realize it could be years before the total effects are known, but it sounds serious to me.
  11. I like the old uniforms, but I like the apple green uniforms and highlighter yellow also.
  12. Now there's a concept!
  13. Interesting thought--could Saban be bought, er, hired away?
  14. I don't have a subscription, but could read it by allowing ads to be unblocked.
  15. My impression is they hope fans will attend more than one of the events in person that day. I know DL has said he'd like to to see Autzen packed for the spring game.
  16. The fun thing about basketball is that only 5-7 very good players are needed to make a good team, so the odds of a smaller school finding success is greater than in, say, football. 🙂
  17. Clay was such a smart player, not a surprise he is a coach!
  18. All this makes my thoughts turn to baseball and the minor leagues. I think the average minor-league players gets about $15,000 in salary. Compare that to getting paid tuition, room & board, books, etc. for college football players (and all college players on full scholarship). That probably adds up to around $100,000 a year, at least for out-of-state student athletes. Now add in the potential earnings with NIL. The sky seems to be the limit there. Of course, in the minor leagues, players don't have to attend class or worry about NCAA regulations (whatever rules are left).
  19. Maybe that coach can see into the future??? 🙂
  20. The coaches clinic is in April, as it turns out. Oregon Ducks Football Camps | University of Oregon Ducks WWW.OREGONFOOTBALLCAMPS.COM Oregon Ducks Football Camps are led by the Oregon Ducks Football coaching staff. Ducks camps are held at Autzen Stadium...
  21. Oh, something about it popped up on my FB timeline--I should have read more closely. Long ago, in another life time, I attended a coaches clinic as someone's guest. Whether people had to be invited then, I don't know.
  22. Just wondering--is anyone going to the coaches clinic? It would be fun to get a report.
  23. You mean I was breaking the law when I won a whole $20 in the 1999 men's basketball bracket?
