What If Vernon Adams Didn’t Break His Finger in 2015?
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Vernon Adams was uncanny when he was healthy at QB. That guy just was able to “see the field” and find receivers. Fun to watch him play. Once VA he moved on we were in trouble at QB, and our defense was not improving. Helfrich, a good OC, was imploding as a head coach. He had problems recruiting, but also complacency had crept into the program on his watch. It was reported more than once that some of his players were skipping “recommended workouts” before his last fall practice session began. -
UO Athletics Building: 'The Jake' to Benefit Golf Programs
Drake replied to idontrollonshobbas's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
What a nice addition. Practicing during the winter months will become a lot more enjoyable for golf team members. Should help sway a few recruits to come to Oregon. After Peter Jacobsen’s playing career ended, he really became an ambassador for golf for in Oregon. It is a nice tribute to he and his family. -

Oh my…I have a large bin jammed full of t shirts and sweatshirts. A couple of coaches coats, rain gear, many pairs of running shoes, Air Jordan’s, wind breakers, Nike Pro, socks, and many hats. Wife has worked at Nike for a long time. Too long according to her….

Yikes. Some Player Insight Into Cristobal...

“Leadership is a matter of having people look at you and gain confidence, seeing how you react. If you are in control, they are in control.” Tom Landry In my opinion, a discussion of unacceptable behavior should have taken place at practice. -
"The Most Incredible Ending to a Football Game!"
Drake replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
2009 War for the Roses. Winner goes to the Rose Bowl. Rodent faithful were flying their hideous car flags all week in the Portland area. In 2008 and 2009 if the rodents win the game formerly known as a war fought on American soil they go to the Rose Bowl. Chip Kelly goes for the dagger on 4th down to run out the clock. Might not be last second, but very satisfying to watch over and over…lol Btw…2008 score Ducks 65, rodents 38 ; ) -

“I didn’t quite understand the Notre Dame deal. But, obviously I have not been a student of the BCS.” Mike Belloti Notre Dame happens to be 0 - 8 in BCS and NY6 games since the 1994 Cotton Bowl. -
I think we were one injury away from flipping coins on the sidelines to see who punts and kicks field goals. Now we have some depth and competition. Be nice to have a field goal kicker that consistently puts points on the board and a kicker that significantly limits return opportunities.

The Prefontaine Classic is about a week away. It is part of the World Athletics Tour and participants needs to be ranked in the top 50 in the world to compete. Great way to see world class track and field. Always enjoyed sitting in Hayward’s old bleachers on a warm spring day track meet. Fans would stomp out a cadence and cheer loudly as our elite distance runners were doing battle on the track. Good fans, great memories.

Hilarious Herbert Naysayers Get Embarrassed by Video, Whew!

Outstanding ending to the video. “He knocked a #$&@ out. He is a dude.” -
Lol…the tour buses on the Amalfi coast make you want to drive a beat up sub-compact. Those hairpin corners make the road seem like a bike path in some places. I watched a brand new Ferrari a few years back slowly creep by a bus with literally an inch or two to spare.

New Hires by Ducks and Pac-12 Inspire Hope
Drake replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think that the Lanning hire is working beyond expectations. He has surrounded himself with a younger “hungry” staff. While I expect some growing pains at times, they are bringing in solid recruits. They are winning recruiting battles at very high levels and they haven’t even won a game yet. Kliavkoff will now have both Oregon, and USC, as teams that will enhance any media rights negotiations. I think that is the main factor that will determine his value to the PAC 12. If Oregon can get to the CFP before the negotiation of that contract, then that will pay huge dividends for the Kliavkoff, and the Conference. -
Excited to see what they can accomplish at Nationals. Still not used to seeing the new Hayward field. What a tremendous venue. The city of Eugene benefits so dramatically from just the sporting venues around campus. U of O’s sports complexes are like Disneyland for athletes and fans. I guess Hayward is so nice that they had to tear down and rebuild the Walton and Hamilton dorms…Crane in the picture of track team…lol

Is Oregon Poised for Top-10 Recruiting Classes?
Drake replied to Steven A's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We are now consistently listed in the top 5 choices of many talented recruits. Winning those battles solidifies the impression that Oregon is on the uptick. I have expectations that our defense will create problems for many teams. Defensive recruits will pay attention. If Oregon can get solid QB play the offensive scheme will grab even more attention. I know that I am excited to watch this unfold. -
Ducks Men/Women Poised to Sweep Pac-12 Track/Field Championships
Drake replied to Smith72's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Track and field at Oregon has always been special. Job well done. -
Classic commercial with Tom Glavine and Greg Maddox. Home runs are sexy and help put people in the seats. The House that Ruth built is probably a good example. I really wouldn’t know much about Oregon softball w/o some of the posts here….thanks

Limiting a playoff to 4 teams definitely hurts college football. When we finally received a 4 team playoff format many cheered. However, a mythical National Championship looks better than what we have today from a monetary standpoint. The current CFP playoff system needs to be expanded, or abandoned altogether. College football has found out that simply adding teams to the playoff format is more complex when all variables that go into implementing that decision are taken into account. University of Oregon last March projected revenues of $45 million and expenses of $108 million for their athletic budget. Actual revenues are different than projections. An environment where there is less interest in college sports that generate revenue does not bode well for the long run. Conferences need to be able to pay their bills for their athletic budgets. However, in the scheme of things, the amount of money spent vs. revenue generated is problematic for many Universities. Btw…U of O had a profit of around $250,000 for 2021…tough to fund a capital replacement account with $250,000 profit.

Go drive the Nurburgring with my Porsche that I picked up in Stuttgart earlier without destroying it. Then pop over to watch the 24 Hours of LeMans before driving down to Sorrento, Italy to hang on the Amalfi coast for a month or two.

Solid commit. This is the type of guy that can wear down defenders as the game goes into the 4th quarter. Not much fun tackling a +225 lbs. RB all game long. Let’s see, big RB, smaller agile RBs, tall and fast receivers, QBs that can pass and run, seems like we are putting together a nice “buffet” of offensive firepower. Look forward to watching these guys in a pro style up-tempo offense that is “making football fun” for both the players and fans.

YouTube: Greatest Plays in Ducks Football History
Drake replied to Drake's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Mariota had so many highlights it’s tough to remember just one. There would need to be a highlight from Kenyon Barner’s 321 rushing yards and 5 touchdown record setting effort against USC at the Coliseum. Justin Herbert’s 30 yard TD run against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
