  1. They actually have a set of protocols that they use (see article). The protocols are (in a nutshell) championships won, strength of schedule, head to head, common opponents, and other factors such as injured key players. This is what they’re using to fill the bracket with blue bloods. The committee chairman even stated tonight that it was a “possibility” that SMU could fall behind Bama if they lose to Clemson. That’s committee-speak for “If SMU loses the ACCCG they’re out”. One can read this article and deduce that the SEC is getting no less than 4 teams in this tournament. 2. The protocols that the committee uses in this article might as well be labeled the “blue blood or SEC clause”. They place a pretty big emphasis on championships won, strength of schedule, availability of key players, etc. They’ve taken all the shady decisions from past committees and codified them. These protocols give them the justification to fill the tournament with SEC and B1G teams. How does College Football Playoff work? 3. Oregon still at #1. I was surprised that Bama was 11th until I read the protocol that the committee uses. This is what leaves the door open for Bama to supplant SMU if they lose to Clemson. SMU’s best wins are Pitt and Louisville who are no longer ranked. Should be a fun weekend coming up. I thought Miami at #12 was interesting, but they have no shot at the playoff since the Big 12 Champ will move into the playoff. The only two teams in the top 12 right now that can be supplanted by their CCG opponents are Boise State and SMU. Nobody else stands a chance of moving out of the top 12 Alabama Crimson Tide land at No. 11 in the CFP's rankings - ESPN WWW.ESPN.COM Barring an upset in Saturday's ACC title game between Clemson and SMU, Alabama might be headed back to the College Football Playoff for the ninth time in the past 11 seasons, as the Crimson...
  4. Exactly my point. It may not be logical to us, but in their minds, they know exactly what they're doing. They looked like geniuses because Bama/UGA went to OT and was a great game. They looked like geniuses again in 2022 by letting Ohio State in to play UGA because they almost won on a last second FG. Then they looked like morons the next week for letting TCU in. So, they corrected the decision the following year by leaving an undefeated FSU team out because they thought they would get blown out. FSU never stood a chance of getting in last year because of what UGA did to TCU.
  5. I can say with the utmost certainty that Clemson beating SMU will only eliminate SMU from the playoffs. Bama will get in with the 11th or 12th seed no matter what. The committee might make controversial decisions, but they have come out smelling like a rose on most of them (i.e. 2014 Ohio State, 2017 Bama, 2020 Ohio State, 2022 Ohio State, 2023 Bama).
  6. You have way too much trust in the committee to do the correct thing. Let's go over some of the questionable decisions these committees have made. 1. Replacing FSU with Bama last season because they were on their 3rd string QB. 2. Putting a 6-win Ohio State team in the playoff in 2020. 3. Replacing #3 TCU in 2014 with Ohio State even though they were on their 3rd string QB. 4. Leaving B1G Champ Penn State out of the 2016 playoff and replacing them with B1G runner up Ohio State (whom PSU beat earlier in the year). 5. Giving Bama the 4th seed in 2017 despite them losing the Iron Bowl by multiple scores and not even playing in the SECCG. 6. Giving Notre Dame a playoff spot in 2020 despite them being blown out by Clemson when an 8-1 A&M team was left out. Never underestimate the committee and never expect them to do the conventional thing. The reason being is they have hit on most of their "controversial" decisions.
  7. It's official....for now. Oregon Ducks flip 4-star linebacker Gavin Nix from Miami Hurricanes DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM The Oregon Ducks officially flipped 4-star linebacker Gavin Nix from the Miami Hurricanes on the day before the Early Signing Period opens.
  8. I actually don't mind Lucas Oil Stadium this year. It's where DL won his national championship with UGA, so he's used to winning rings there.
  9. It's worth noting that the coaches didn't even give TFerg Honorable Mention as a TE.
  10. Mario became Oregon's coach because the current players at that time told Mullens he is who they wanted. Then, Josh Wilcox almost became Oregon's head coach because that's who the former players told him they wanted. Luckily, Wilcox turned the job down and forced Mullens to go with the inexperienced kid.
  11. Who does he think he is? No coach can get into the playoff with two bad losses unless they're wearing a crimson script "A" on their polo.
  12. Notre Dame always has and always will get the benefit of the doubt. They lost to the 7th ranked team in the MAC, they have beaten only one ranked team (Army), and yet they're still ranked #4. Ahead of two SEC teams and three other one-loss teams. If you don't think it's possible that committee will jump them ahead of a one-loss Oregon team, then you're in for a big surprise.
  13. Notre Dame is the projected 5 seed no matter what. Recency bias will probably help them out. No matter. If you want to win a championship you have to beat the best teams, so the seed doesn't really matter in the playoffs.
  14. The new Pac 12 will likely be wanting to play their championship game in Vegas, so the B1G better strike now and secure a contract early. I'm sure they could play it on consecutive nights, just so long as they make the Pac 12 play on a solid green gridiron and then paint it up for the B1G. No sense in spending good money on paint for G6 teams. Kenny Wheaton showed up on the 20th anniversary and the Ducks won the conference, the rose Bowl and went to the national championship game and lost. Maybe they're just trying to change the luck this time.
  15. Jameis threw more TD passes to the Broncos than Bo did. At least he got the "W".
  16. Riggs and Harris definitely have the size to wear down defenses if Oregon can effectively replace the 4 graduating starters.
  17. I like the Columbia River Shootout or the Columbia River Rivalry. Much more original.
  18. Cascade Clash is unoriginal. The MLS already uses the Cascadia Cup for the Timbers/Sounders/Whitecaps rivalry.
  19. The line favors Oregon, but the ESPN predictor favors PSU.
  20. Shout is one of the great Oregon traditions. However, I’m somewhat disappointed that Shama Lama Ding Dong isn’t represented in the Autzen Stadium experience. I feel like it would be a good post game victory song. Much like how WVU plays Country Roads.
  21. I remember there was no secret that they were searching for another coach while Diaz was still out recruiting and preparing for a bowl game. They really put him in an awkward situation.
  22. The Nittany Lions is what most people would call a cougar, puma or a mountain lion. Unless they’re from Florida. Then it’s called a panther.
  23. This loss cost them a spot in the ACC championship game which should eliminate them from the playoff. I can’t see the committee putting in a team that can’t even finish 2nd place in a conference as weak as the ACC and who finished the season without a win against a ranked team.
  24. You know, Shreveport has a few riverboat casinos. It’s basically the Vegas of the South. The only difference is it takes longer to fill yourself up at the all-you-can-eat crawfish buffet.
