  1. I agree. As the season moves along, the team should resemble Lanning more every game. Towards the end of the schedule, they should be running on all cylinders. Mario's teams so underwhelmed us week after week, we forget how much potential awesome lurks at nearly every position.
  2. I was on the Lanning train back when we were having the Wilcox vs Kelly debate. With that said, I like how the past players banded together and pushed for Wilcox in an attempt to keep the UO from chasing after some shiny new flavor of the month coach. I think they just wanted to make sure the Ducks brought in somebody who actually would care about the Ducks and not use them as a stepping stone. Connecting with former legends by the new staff seems like a great idea to me. I think it also shows that Lanning is here for the long term which should make all involved breathe a little easier. I think we should also be considerate of how the name "Civil War" effects recruits and players from other parts of the country that don't have local connections to the term. It's a phrase the we may not have political connection with but that may not be the case for outsiders you're trying to bring on to the team.
  3. Two steps forward and an Evel Knievel rocket bike launch back. Yikes.
  4. I hope Duck fans are appreciating how lucky we are to get to watch Nyara Sabally play for this team. She's one of the best posts I've ever seen in the women's game. She should have a great WNBA career when she's done.
  5. SC is heading towards “for real”. The Ducks are already there. We really need to utilize this head start. Ducks going 10-2 or 11-1 compared to an 8/4 ish SC, could make all the difference in up coming recutting battles for those LA 5 and 4 1/2 stars. if they appear to be even out of the gate like both going 9-3 ish, then SC could get the upper hand early and the LA well may go dry.
  6. Whoa, wait a minute! I thought the Fuskies were the reining undisputed off season champions every year!
  7. Sabally 3-5 in first qtr for seven points. Rest of team is 2-9.
  8. I'm referring to his innovation on defense. He seems to have revolutionized a few attacking concepts with blitzing mutations. It sounds like both Lanning and Dillingham have embraced Chip's concepts of full speed creative offense as well.
  9. I'm still trying to process what we actually have in coach Lanning. So far it looks like we may have the best of the recent coaches strengths. So far I'm seeing the defensive strength of Brooks ( those early 80's teams kept games close even with an awful offense), the organizational skills of Bellotti, the innovation of Kelly and the toughness of Cristibol. I can't wait till we get to see what it all looks like on the field. And remember kids, the guy hasn't even been the full time coach for a month yet and look at all that he's done.
  10. The menacing figure Arizona should be worried about is Nyara Sabally.
  11. Which begs the question, what exactly is Georgia talent? The mountain in the middle of Georgia's D Line, Jordan Davis was a three star. I'd say the Ducks have plenty of stars on both sides of the ball at this point. What they need now is to be coached up to their max abilities and be given a winning strategy to execute. I'd say Lanning is on it on both fronts.
  12. I’d rather have a small quality class this year then let this grade a recruiting team go pedal to the metal next year.
  13. Possibly two more five stars in this class? Anything approaching a top ten class this year would be epic. Way back in December I said we may be way under estimating the impact of the Lanning hire. I have seen nothing so far that changes that expectation.
  14. Fuskie fans may be right. Those dawgs may not be worthy of rival status any more.
  15. What coach interviews with the NFL on national signing day then changes his mind? What recruit would feel good about signing with UM now?
  16. Over on the “U” boards, they are talking about how great Mario is at putting together staffs. His slow speed is being hailed as a good sign at how deliberate he is with each hire. I guess they don’t realize that he inherited most of his staff from Taggart. I think the real possibility that coaches are avoiding him has gone completely over their heads. Maybe a few recruiting defections will wake them up.
  17. A close UGA game with top 25 wins against BYU, UU and USC in the PAC championship could land UO in the CFP.
  18. I remember way back when everyone was in awe of the coaching hires at UW, SC and the U and the poor Ducks had to settle for an unproven coordinator. I’ve become morbidly curious as to how many Wheels are going to fall off of the Mario cart. Less coaches now than you had at the start is not a good look. With no OC or DC and with coaches leaving, is the word out on Mario in the coaching community? Do recruits start getting second thoughts? Does the portal heat up out of South Beach? Stay tuned….
  19. Seems like a sign that James is about to join the flock. This to me would be ideal. A good player joins the mix but doesn’t just cut to the front of the line ahead of the guys that have been waiting for their chance to shine.
  20. And now, the latest episode of Rocked Like a Hurricane…….
  21. I think he said he’s at the game with some recruits.
  22. Nice interview with Lanning.
  23. Now that’s the way to end a half!
