I in no way mean to question or pass judgment on the young woman's complaint. 

 

I think Watt's brain was depleted of energy some while back but if Tucker is fired for cause Michigan State would owe him nothing and would have money available to pay for another coach's going away payment. Dantonio is already on the scene to help out against UW and down the road in 2023 if need be. Perhaps MSU will come with the money to convince Dantonio to forego retirement for a few years? Dantonio got a lot out of the roster he had in hand. 

 

But as Charles and many others have noted, why would DL uproot his family for a lateral move and not a whole lot, relatively speaking, more dollars? At Oregon, DL will routinely defeat MSU. At MSU he will not routinely defeat Oregon or a Michigan team likely to be on the schedule every season. He may not do so at Oregon but at MSU he would have no hope of out-recruiting Ohio State. DL has a solid NIL partner with Division Street. What would he have at MSU?

I think it almost incomprehensible That DL would want to move after two years. What do we know, if anything, about the family's adaptation and sentiments about Eugene and the Pacific northwest? The only thing that would give me pause is if there was information that the wife and/or kids were not crazy about the environment--rain really gets some people down, for example.

 

When I left junior college in the Santa Cruz area (beach town and surf mecca), I transferred to a really rainy climate in Arcata, California enrolling at Humboldt State. Humboldt was grey, rainy much of the time, and my private theme song that first semester was the Animals hit "We gotta get outta this place." But I adapted and hopefully the Lannings have too.

It is my understanding the only job he is interested in, other than the Oregon job, is his first head coaching job and that job is taken. 

 

The head coach of the third grade team he cut his head coaching teeth at has a longterm coach who isn't retiring anytime soon. If that does happen we should all worry, but until then, not so much.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Paul Finebaum (if he did, indeed, say that) is probably wrong.  The only thing that I could see dislodging Nick from Alabama (besides a losing season) is if he finally has had enough of the pressure-cooking of coaching.  We can only imagine what it must be like heading a program like Alabama with all the pressures are brought to bear against the HC.

And as far as Deion goes, coaching at Colorado, there's only one way that program can go after its last few seasons, and that's up.  There is probably almost NO pressure on Deion to do anything but make his team competitive.  But that's today.  Wait until another season comes along and everyone is expecting him to continue the "miracle" at Colorado.  Assuming he stays put after his son graduates.

Nevada- I totally agree with you but once you've lost Finebaum it's pretty tough.  

 

Also there's that whole pesky issue of how Colorado is going to pay Deion.   They are not rolling in cash (yes, this new found superiority will help them raise money).  They said when they hired him they did not have the money but they were going to swing for the fences anyway.  Will it pay off?   Time will tell.

The story about Prime and the Alabama job is interesting but he couldn't take hardly any of his players with him this time because of the transfer rules (if I am reading the rules correctly and if the job opens in the next year or two).  How good would Colorado be without his son and Hunter? I am not sure.  Lets wait and see as they get more into the season and the teams they play don't implode.  I am impressed so far with what he has done though.

PF was not suggesting that Prime replacing Saint Nick will or should happen in the near future.

 

He said that if Prime keeps on keeping on at CU he could be the best choice. Shedure has 1 more season at CU, I'm not certain about Shilo, but I do not see Deion leaving before 2025 if then. Like many, Deion has to know that it will be easier to qualify for the PO in the B12 than the SEC.

 

This is a season where the SEC finds its QB pants down. What until next season for the Pac-12, Ooops!

70mil over time is still different than 20 mil up front. 

 

Not saying MSU wouldn't be interested in making that move but I feel there are probably cheaper options.

Just thought about something. I think Prime with all of his attention grabbing hype and marketing would actually have been a great fit at USC - the LA and Hollywood glitz and glamour added to it would have just killed it when it comes to recruiting as well.

 

At the same time, Lincoln Riley with his use of schematic offensive wizardry would have been a better fit at Colorado. IMHO, LR's brand of offense-focused football is not prototypical USC football, which is a Pro-style offense and solid defense (the jury is still out on USC's D).
