Dawgs Focus on Dawgs, Claim Ducks Not in Focus...Yet
DanLduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Yes, very real. I keep telling myself we don't have to win, just keep it within 17.5 points!! -
Mario Cristobal--When the Knives Come Out
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I agree in principle with you on this. I wish we were better than throwing shade on someone who lifted our program and left it better than he found it. But, the season hasn't started yet, and many peops do like to "poke" those who aren't us, and Mario is longer one of us. MC was the one who notified Spencer's brother. From Miami. Apparently he still is valued by current players and families. I for one was not entertained by this article. So what. This great site is for way more than just me. I don't have to like everything. I do like our new coach. But that can change. Results are everything now. -
I'm surprised at the negativity when it was anonymous. Seems like we should be able to fly under the radar for at least a few games cuz they don't seem to expect Oregon to do much.

Is This the Beginning of the End For a Game So Many Love?
DanLduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
There is a massive difference in the physical toll on athletes from bball to football. Because of the importance of size and speed, no "Cinderella" will ever last the pounding of a football tournament. There is also the chance with only 5 players that one star could be enough to win against better teams. This can not happen in football. You need more than one star. It is this Cinderella belief that gives all 64 teams hope. Thus the excited fan bases. The traditions surrounding football are much more regional and most fans realize that only a few teams really have a chance. With NIL making for paid teenagers, and the portal making for fluid rosters, and new leagues ending traditional rivalries, I believe you will see a rapid decline in college football fans. Attendance has been declining for years and will continue with fewer reasons to follow closely. Expectations will be higher because they are now paid. After 2 losses, any team would be disqualified from a Natty so why try any longer. No, I see this as one huge mistake. I personally am out. -
Is This the Beginning of the End For a Game So Many Love?
DanLduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We live in a time where anything "traditional " is seen as old and needlessly unnecessary. "Change with the times, or get left behind " is the new mantra. "Each man for himself". We've lost sight of what made us great, what made us strong. College football is popular because we share a bond, a loyalty to fellow students. We went to that school, or a friend or family member did. It's in our state. We follow a certain school because we share a loyalty that is greater than ourselves. This chase for $$ under the guise of "settling whose #1 on the field" is the final straw to bring about the demise of college athletics. The teams that make the super leagues may do ok, but it will be at the expense of non-revenue sports and all other football programs. I will not have the same loyalty to follow professional college age players in a league that disdains tradition and value for "less successful" teams like Cal or OSU, who have added much to the success and value of the Pac over the years, but not as much recently. This move by USC, and trying to be copied by us and others, is as selfish and short sighted as anything historical ever. We liked college because it wasn't professional, wasn't tainted. Kids played for the brotherhood of team togetherness, not for a bigger NIL deal. Sure, some schools maybe not, but the vast majority of the thousands of kids playing college ball knew they weren't getting to the next stage, and still they played hard. I won't be a part of that type of league. I guess my days of being a fanatical Duck fan are nearing an end. This article was spot on for me. -
The issue for religious schools is whether their school rules allow for the acceptance of all gender and sex issues currently facing the country. And the state of CA is the main issue. They ban travel to many states for all public employees, that includes coaches.

George Kliavkoff is now Working AGAINST Oregon
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
We need to do all we can to save the Pac. What that means...I'm not sure. The Pac is our identity. We all have family and friends who have gone to all the other schools. Yes, it would be nice to play some other schools occasionally, but we have no connection to those schools. It's probably too late to get any big 12 schools now, but we need to try. -
How Does New 'Pac10' Affect Oregon's 2023 Recruiting Class
DanLduck replied to DanLduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Considering how difficult the B1G already is, I don't see scheduling a tough Oregon team maybe once in 10 years. Maybe OSU, Colorado, AZ, Cal, but not a tough school. And besides that, they would not want to help the Ducks recruit LA area. -
How do you figure, unless we too join the B1G? Not playing in a major recruiting zone like southern CA cannot be a good thing?
-
With this unsettling news of the 'LAexit', might this affect the choices of our current class of recruits? Without a USC, can a Pac12/10 school have a high enough rating to make a top 4 invite, even if they go undefeated? Can't you just hear the likes of UM or LSU telling D. Moore he has no shot at a title if he chooses Oregon. Battling NIL was bad enough, but now not even playing a game in LA?! I don't have a clue about a solution, but man, I sure hope something comes out soon.

USC, UCLA Looking to Leave Pac-12 for Big Ten in 2024
DanLduck replied to Kurt Rambis's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
If donors can pony up huge $$ for high school kids, they can help defray the cost of travel to the B1G. I'm just surprised at how early this was leaked. It sounds like there is a lot of negotiations and decisions to made by all parties. Unlike with Texas and OU, that was a mostly done deal when that news broke. This makes me suspicious. Maybe this is a negotiating ploy. If not, this would kill the Pac. We'd have to add Fresno St., UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego...oy vay! -
Two Potential Pac-12 Trap Games For the Ducks
DanLduck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
OK, that was fun. And boy, Chad Cota made some clutch catches in that game. And now, he's a Duck! Go Ducks! -

Athlon Sports College Football Top 25 Rankings
DanLduck replied to Annie's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Miami at #20 makes sense cuz they have a potentially good qb and MC has shown he can win in a weakened conference. The ACC only has Clemson. Mari(o), with or without an awesome offense will probably win at least 8? his first year. USC is not at all the same team as last year. They have made a major overhaul. Of course they have always received the benefit of no doubt, and now with the offensive guru Riley and a possible Heisman qb, they as usual, have very high expectations. It will be up to Utah, UCLA, and of course the Ducks, to show them where they truly belong in year one of Rileys tenure. Let's go Ducks! -
True, and there will always be dudes in the portal. For example, it's hard to believe both Manning and Ewers will stay 4 years at Texas. $$ or no $$.

The Multi-sport Athlete Has A Huge Advantage!
DanLduck replied to Haywarduck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Interesting topic Haywarduck. This is exactly something I've thought before. Playing multiple sports helps in many ways, most are intangible, and difficult to measure objectively. The ability to think quickly, react and recover, helping with footwork, seeing the openman, anticipating a pass, ( like in basketball), dealing with difficulty, learning to be a team player. Actually playing a game instead of only practice. Think how playing baseball could help; hitting .300 is considered good, but that's 7/10 times of disappointment. You have to learn to leave that last at- bat behind and move forward. That's a vital lesson for a qb. I prefer multi sport guys. They have less chance to be burned out or to have learned too many bad habits. -
This is why the portal will be so important. Top ranked QB's are too few and hard to land anyway, and in the new NIL climate even more difficult. So landing a quality transfer may become the new way to go. Look at our own situation. We have 3 guys on scholarship that all appear capable to lead, yet only one will. So if Moore comes to OR, will one or more leave? Would Bo stay an additional year? Look at Texas. Two 5* guys vying for the start, and 2 more 4* in the wings, somebody(s) will be looking elsewhere soon enough. I hope we land Moore to help in recruiting more than anything. But the call of the portal can be a big help in the future.

I think our qb room is awesome. Yet at the same time I'm a bit blue cuz only one can play. To become great, they each need game experience. And barring injury, only one will get it. I expect the coaches will choose to start our best option to win, and with the competition it should only help make that one even better. I sure like the sound of Ty's attitude. He seems ready for his chance.

Great stuff. Loved that 'shout' video. Those two are feeling it! Go Ducks!!

Anonymous Coaches Show Fear of Dan Lanning
DanLduck replied to Log Haulin's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Anonymous?!? Really?! Talk about hard up for click bait, man. Another nothing article with no news. Is Udub recruiting well in the PNW region? Not even in their own state. Besides us and USuC, who is recruiting better out of Cali? Sco Ducks! -
Washington Back in Bowl in 2022: 'Definitely Maybe'
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Listen, they only need to win 6 games. Even Udub can do that. And yes, DeBoer is a great coach. In the end, his hire might be more significant than Riley. UW, WSU, USC, and Oregon should all show significant improvement with their new coaches. Yet, it is delightful to see them dawgs hoping for a minimum of 6 wins to get back to a bowl game, any bowl game. -
Unbelievable: T&F Coach Robert Johnson Fired
DanLduck replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I think this has to be a large part of it. The issues with him covered several years with multiple athletes. In today's atmosphere of zero tolerance, it's not too surprising he is let go. With our track history and new stadium, we shouldn't have any trouble getting an outstanding coach as replacement.
