  1. I hope the fans "stripe out" Autzen. That would be a better contrast to the darker uniform.
  2. So, question: Will the running back with the most colors showing on his groovy new shoes, get the most touches? Cuz he's the "hot" back. 😉
  3. Bowl projections? After week 3? Man, someone has too much time on their hands! And next year, the Pac-2 won't place any teams. C'mon man.
  4. I don't have any idea what the answer should be on this, but I don't think a compromised deal from congress is the answer. I'm not trying to choose sides politically, but I don't have faith that either side is at all interested in what's best for college sports, or would know it if they saw it. Here's to hoping for a miracle.
  5. There has been little "talk" coming out of Boulder this week. More like a lovefest. For all his tough talk, coach Sanders ain't nobody's fool. He recognizes that though CU is improved over last year, Oregon just has "better guys", to quote one winning SEC coach. If Oregon continues to play up to their standard and not get drawn in to chippy play or retaliation, this should be a strong win. Alex, all your points were right on. Ducks need to dominate the line of scrimmage, both ways. It's time for the big boys to show they are the real "prime" beef. As a celebratory meal, we should all be devouring prime rib in one form or another! 😉
  6. The difficult thing about sports, is you need game experience to really improve. Especially D1 qb's. They need game reps to learn how to read defenses. Being the #2 QB, it's virtually impossible to get that needed game experience. All TT can do is keep practicing hard, and be ready when his opportunity comes. He definitely has the physical tools. I hope his loyalty is rewarded.
  7. Does Bucky need more touches? Will he get more now the season is starting? I've always heard announcers say that great RB's get better as the game goes on. Maybe our platoon method is keeping Bucky from finding that rhythm. I guess we will find out over the next couple of weeks.
  8. There should not be a coaches poll. They can't watch games. There should not be any polls until at least week 5 or 6. These early polls always influence later thinking. It's a rigged system meant to help espn. But, it won't go away, so I'll enjoy being #10 for a week. How does Tenn remain higher than FL? How is FSU still at #4? I thought that the play on the field was supposed to mean something! Btw, I see our little brother losing in Pullman. They don't have the firepower to score if Martinez gets shut down.
  9. We should dominate line of scrimmage. If we can control penalties, this game shouldn't be close. CU may get some points, but the D will prevail and show up big time. Don't under estimate them though. They are all solid D1 players. Our guys just need to show the "Oregon standard" as Lanning calls it. It will be over by the 4th quarter.
  10. I think the biggest concern about coach Sanders is the way he went about changing the CU program. Coming in and telling the whole team they needed to transfer out was a bit harsh for most people. Add to that his brash style, which one either loves or hates, no middle ground, and you have lots of negative reaction. But that's his point. He wants the attention, negative or positive. It's all attention. Without a doubt, DS has changed everything about CU football. And if you're a Buff fan, it's not just all good, it's awesome. But the question I ask, is this what we want for teams in the future? A new coach comes in, kicks everyone off the team, lures in some better players and it's off to the races. Without his kid at qb, how great of a coach would he be?
  11. Beavers defensive front 7 look good. O-line struggling a bit with SDSU. QB DJU looks very pedestrian. Strong arm, yes. But accuracy, nyet. OSU definitely needs better receivers. All in all, I'm disappointed. They lose against UW, USC, Utah and us. I bet they lose to Colorado.
  12. I love that his brother posted that! Sco Ducks!!
  13. Everything is "personal" to coach Sanders. And his media following. It is his main way of inspiring his team. Whatever hype it takes, fine. So far, it seems to work. But I believe his team doesn't have the depth to compete against the best of the Pac-12. Oregon, is at the top We need to play smart, play well, disciplined, and beat CU into the ground!!
  14. With more of our starters available, I would like to see the rematch. We lost 10-12 starters before that game. That's a lot! Urban does not walk on water. Helfrich's problem was his DC.
  15. A new starter, with high expectations, was the primary abuser of undisciplined penalties. He has acknowledged that and is working on it. The PI penalties were a result of losing sight of the ball and panicking. That will improve with experience. And of course the late hit was a bit of over zealousness. These will improve with real game experience vs intrasquad type games. But I agree that sometimes only a few plays separate us from greatness. Just proves how hard it is to win the Natty. Thus, coach Lannings emphasis on getting from good to great.
  16. So a question, which is it, Warriors or Rainbow Warriors of U of Hawaii? According to my research, UH Warriors added Rainbow to their name after one appeared over the field after beating Oregon State. Then in 2000, they dropped the "Rainbow" for football, men's bball, and men's volleyball and baseball. The women's teams were called Rainbow Wahine. But now every team seems to be the Rainbow Warriors (or wahine). So, enquiring mind, (my own) wants to know, are we playing Rainbow Warriors or simply Warriors this week?
  17. Bird- bombs? Why not Bo- bombs! Those passes, when caught, look so effortless. But seeing two outstanding receivers, Troy and Tez, each have one slip through their hands, was a reminder of just how difficult catching those missiles can be. High risk and reward. I'm sure we will see plenty as the season progresses. I too think this was more like our first game. Their O-line and especially their D front 7 were vastly improved over PSU. Thus our run game lacked its usual pzaz. A question for our OBD group, does utilizing so many RB's so often, effect their game flow vision? After rewatching the game, I thought our D line did very well. We often only rushed 3 and still brought pressure. We did lose containment a few times, but mostly early on, and I don't think we expected TS to run so much. I'm encouraged going forward. Lastly, I hope our young men can learn from the sad story of coach Tucker. No one is immune from temptation, so it's up to each individual to stay strong and be of sound character. Now, bring on the Warriors!
  18. Wow! What a win. This was really our "first" game. PSU was such a runaway, and they substituted as much as we did, this game against a more stout O-line, and much improved defensive front, was a better test of our teams fortitude. I thought we would win going away, (my prediction was 41-17) but JonJ had it right, Texas Tech plays well at home. So, what are we left with? The Ducks are good team. We want them to go from good to great! We have several things to clean up, but we have many things to be happy about. The reason TS had so many rushing yards is because receivers were covered and he had to pull the ball and run it. 124 yds of penalty should have been enough to lose, but 4 (FOUR) TO's made it even. Clean up penalties, and we do do much better, score more points. Coaches learn from their decisions, the team moves on. Next team up to be concerned with, Colorado. I do NOT want to lose to neon Dion.
  19. It's an absolutely disturbing and disgusting story. This guy should be prosecuted to the fullest extant of the law. Unbelievable.
  20. Texas Tech is coming to Autzen next year!
  21. That first drive missed assignments should be chalked up to first game excitement and perhaps a little over enthusiasm. The adjustments should be chalked up to good in-game coaching. What do they say about week 2 games? Biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2. This should make us all very excited. I'm sure TS will have his TT's playing better, but so will our defense. I think we will come out ballin' and surprise a few tv personalities. (And maybe a few OBD forum fans too😉) Thanks for great insight Mr. Fishduck.
  22. Waaaaayy back in my hischool days, my coach gave starting spots to who ever worked the hardest that week in practice. It was a great motivator to work hard (yes, I did get to start once or twice) and it kept the starters motivated. If that's what he is doing, great. Knowing your hard work is rewarded, well, that's priceless. However, the # of snaps per player seems to suggest he knows its a long season. So besides developing and encouraging depth, he is avoiding unnecessary risk of injury. Remember, Bucky only had 4 carries. What ever his reasons, aren't we glad football is back!
  23. Ducks 41 - TT 17 TO - 2 Sacks - 1 Yards pass - 278
  24. Reminds me of what J Winston said after we crushed FSU in the Rose Bowl, " it was close, we coulda won" or something as silly.
  25. Great article Mr. Ingram. Thanks. My only take-away, I wish this was the team that played UGA last year. We may not have won, but that awful final score would have been different. This team looked disciplined. For a first game! Good tackling. Good team communication on defensive play calling. Zero. None. No procedure penalties. And what about that offense! I couldn't blink, let alone get up and leave for another beverage, or I'd miss something for sure. Oregon did exactly what you want a championship team to do, play hard, fast, clean and just win. We have now seen what coach Lanning means by the "Oregon standard". They bring that every week, we are in for fun times and exciting games.
