Ducks now in virtual tie for 5th on average recruit rating (247 composite) with USuC only Norte Dame, tOSU, Georgia, Bama ahead. And bet is more five stars on the way to UO with this domino. 8 of 11 current commits are 4/5 stars. More coming
-
Yep. Rankings based on volume right now are meaningless. Even Duke is rated higher simply because they have 22 commits, yet zero are 4/5 stars, and 4 are 2 stars. Average star rating puts UW in the 40s, with UO 15.

USC’s Motives and Implications for Ducks
AllOregon replied to CalBear95's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
^ I am thinking similar now as a decent viable route. Still believe Plan A is join ND in the B1G. But (and this goes for USC as well), what are the better odds to CFP? Fight through B1G schedule with the travel and huge away stadiums, or put up gaudy #s and more conf titles in a lesser conference aka Clemson and Oklahoma. Both used this path very well. I think this is where USC’s move can backfire. They have not been relevant lately (1 Pac12 title in last 13 seasons and ZERO CFP appearances). Sure the tv $ can pad NIL offers for recruits, but not seeing them rise toward top of B1G. Then despite NIL $, how do they convince recruits that they can win big there if are an avg 7-9 win team AND have to spend half their time traveling Far East to play in the freezing/windy conditions of Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois. I would see some studs deciding to truly stay on west coast and play at 10-11 win on average Oregon team, that got more sniffs at CFP. This may be the mold until 2036 when ACC can be demolished after their current contracts expire if ND waits a few more years to pull the B1G trigger. Then Oregon expands out. Which also says to me don’t pull the B12 move. Ever. -
That is a fake account. Check the name “Trollsby” lol. Also consider the time stamp. Would not make sense.

Clearly in Left Field...The PAC Retains All Schools

I’d bet my NIL money that ND turns down B1G -
Let’s hope B1G saying no (right now) to the UO/UW package deal, is that they don’t want the package if ND says yes. That UO is who they would take to pair with ND.

^ Exactly. If that were the case they would have said yes to UO/UW already. I now sense we are are B1G’s fall back plan if the SEC does a numbers grab. -
George Kliavkoff--Completely Blindsided?
AllOregon replied to Desert Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Oregon must leave. Whatever remains of PAC and the type of schools that would actually accept a transfer in, will make this a Mountain West “Coast” mid major. No way should Oregon stay with our resources, value, and expectations. We want Playoffs not the Potato Bowl. This is going to crater PAC bowl alliances. Oregon is actually in a good spot as a free agent with its National wide fan base, marketing, value. -
That is a possibility. Good thought. I hope it is vs needing to go to Big12. But I have my doubts.
-
The Big10 ship seems to have sailed. They would have approached others to come with the LA schools already. To me going to Big12 makes most sense. Yes the “Acc” alliance but travel and fan bases are too far apart. Definitely have to leave the PAC now , otherwise recruiting and brand will label as mid major. And I don’t want to aspire to win the Independence bowl, like we were ok with 3 decades ago.

It feels to me that the puppies have already forced themselves into locking up a 3 star average class with that big volume of 3s. Yawn. Even purple shades Softie worried about that on his show today.

Holy Crap! LaGarrette Blount's Side of 'The Punch'
AllOregon replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have a direct acquaintance that was associated with that team and game. It was clear to many witnesses the N word was used. It was also clear Coach Peterson and Boise St officials knew it and refused to significantly address, punish, or publicly acknowledge it. Chip and UO suspended LGB for the rest of the regular season for swinging. Peterson and Boise did nothing to the racist. UW knew all of this when they hired Peterson. Try to win at all costs much? Chip thought Peterson was going to do the right thing, so felt it was not on him to share what actually caused this. Clearly, trusting Peterson’s morals was a rookie mistake. -

Critical Analysis: Oregon Spring Game Hits and Misses

“a pass completion percentage by all quarterbacks of just 52%” At the end of the day, I too was left a little disappointed in the collective QB play. I think it is because I had high expectations of both Ty and Bo to get A grades and battle for A+. I wanted to leave thinking our QB could be in Heisman talk. Did not see that. Maybe B play at best. Allowing them to run in a normal game will help. I did get comfortable with Butters being a serviceable back up. Such dichotomy on 52% completions. One hand, there were some great long and catchable throws. But, was this because the WRs got more separation than we are used to and had some great hands? The “touch sack” rule did force some noticeable intentional throw always, which was good even if reduced completion %. Some maybe do not need to happen as in reality QB would not have been tackled. But appalling were the # of bad INTs by all 3. Some were a little bad luck off tips and perhaps it also demonstrates the skill of the DBs. But the bad choice or throw behind receiver caused it. Too many times. But, I felt the competition to be top guy forced some of that and hope once a starter is established those choices won’t be made. Either way, it has to get cleaned up quickly especially if the O line cannot pass block as we would like early in scheme learning. it is apparent the coaches knew what they were doing in bringing in Bo. At least we know where the floor is, even though the ceiling may not be as high as some hoped. Calling all current 5 star QBs….this position is not on lockdown. You will have a shot here next year. -

Charles, I think you were reading my mind on me also admitting to a miss on Cota. I had intent to post nearly word for word what you said and I appreciate you also being willing to admit it. I originally was Meh when Cota signed due to pedestrian 4 years of stats with UCLA despite the legacy tag. Worried a scholarship was wasted. I was so wrong after witnessing his game in person and now am thrilled with him. Not only solid hands but body positioning etc. While he won’t light off speed burners he will be a possession difference maker. Big fan now. -
I was there today. Announced attendance of 42K. My take: QB: Nix was clear No.1 but had a couple poor decisions. Impressed with Butterfields arm. Wanted so badly for Ty to take the job, May have been third best . Maybe now we do know why AB started after all. Made me wonder if Ty’s late pick might just be his last game pass thrown as a Duck. To be fair, QBs not allowed to run. That part hard to evaluate. WRs: 3 words- Ducks Are Loaded. The sophomores all got great separation and long ball PROWESS, Hutson looked ok after the injury. Cota catches everything, already saw QBs use him as security blanket, should be clutch on third down. Special note: Seven McGee might be Tyreek Hill. I thought he was MVP even on non catches due to “touch sacks” RBs looked good. Hard to evaluate Defense given schemes and rules but VERY ball hawkish. Tempo: speed is back . Offense is going to get playmakers in space. This will be way more Chip than MC. Overall: lots to work on but that is expected given it is April. DEPTH is apparent. Offense will score a lot. Defense: will make plays. Cannot eval PROWESS based on scheme and many starters who hardly played. outlook: Will compete for Pac12 title.
