I am curious as to what others want from the team in this game against Beavis? Sure, win handily, get the young-guns some playing time....but what would YOU sell the team on in preparation for this game?

My theme would be "Precision," as we want great technique applied, and when done--the results will be great stops on defense, and great blocks that create explosion running plays. Precision on running passing routes, precision in delivering the ball...thus it is not outcome-based, since we know where that is going, but based instead on the process?

Thoughts?

Play clean like we did last week. But this week we play to our standard. We didn't do that last week!

Improved run defense. We shouldn't need run support from the secondary unless the numbers dictate it. Gap control, beating blocks, setting the edge, staying low, and improved tackling where the pile doesn't keep falling forward for 2-3 extra yards.

Save the stunts for next week.

Dominate LOS on both sides, particularly in the run game. Be efficient and minimize penalties. Don't show much to Penn St. Keep everyone healthy.

Am I asking for too much? 🙂🦆

Cover Me!

(No injuries, please.)

Beaver fan (after the game)..."What's the fastest way back to Corvallis"?

Duck fan..."Just keep going downhill".

Disciplined execution.

I expect a base gameplay with Dan challenging the team to beat the Beavs in the trenches straight up with power and speed.

No need to get fancy. Basic blocking and tackling to wilt an inferior opponent over time.

Great question Charles, I don’t think that whatever I say will stand up to the standard coach Lanning has. I have to remember that the starters have yet to surrender a touchdown.

I would love it if the younger subs could play up to the starter standard but that’s just my druthers. If anything I would like to see the O-line play to the normal Oregon standard which they haven’t to this point in the season (and they still haven’t given up a sack).

The level of play that this team has show. Has blown the roof off of any expectations that I had preseason, so it’s hard to adjust realistically as to who or what this team is. Beat the Beavs, cover the spread, no injuries is about as good as I can ask. Go Ducks!!!

Embarrass them so badly that they never schedule another game with the Ducks. Not interested in going to the game, and giving away my tickets this week.

I like the idea of embarrassing the Beavers. But unlike you, I’m excited to go to the game! I’ll take your tickets. After 20+ years of season tickets, I am only able to go to a couple of games a year and as a graybeard, who has followed the Ducks for more than 5 decades, the Civil War still means something to me! Time to take care of the Rodents!

Friends son already asked, a few of his friends needed tickets as well.

Game day at Autzen on a nice September afternoon is about as good as it gets for Duck fans. Hope you enjoy the game.

Practice for the PSU game - pretend that the rodents are baby lions!

Do not take this game lightly. Do not be looking past the Beavers to the game in Happy Valley.

Starters need to take care of business and come out fast and focused, so we can pull them at halftime. That way they will be rested without being rusty. PSU has a bye week after all.

Consider utilizing a gameplay completely the opposite of what you want to do vs. PSU. PSU will be watching this game closely.

Charles if you want to delete this post because of the possible bad vibes I might be putting out there, do it! But here goes- I was just looking over the WSU Cougars box score with North Texas state and had a bad flash back. WSU had 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles in the first half. N Texas first TD drive was 75 yards, their next 4 TD drives was a combined 93 yards! Do you know where I am going?

The OSU/UO of 2000, we out gained the beavs by about 100 yards but lost because Joey Harrington had 5 interceptions and 1 fumble. This will be the only way that OSU will have a chance against Oregon. That OSU team of 2000 would beat this OSU team by 50+. Sorry if this memory makes some of you old time ducks sick 🤮

When I was in high school, if we were a showboat after a play, teammates nominated you as the hotdog player of the week. That player had to eat a week old hotdog.

You can only imagine the amount of trolling we did to each other. If you jumped up in excitement and it showed up on film day, you got nominated. A few times, guys forgot and got caught up in the moment. The room would erupt in thunderous laughter.

We never trolled or taunted opponents, or looked like "we never had been there before ". That's one of the things our coach did to get the most out of us.

This is what I'd tell the team: you're the best. Play like it on every down.
