  1. Excited to see what they can accomplish at Nationals. Still not used to seeing the new Hayward field. What a tremendous venue. The city of Eugene benefits so dramatically from just the sporting venues around campus. U of O’s sports complexes are like Disneyland for athletes and fans. I guess Hayward is so nice that they had to tear down and rebuild the Walton and Hamilton dorms…Crane in the picture of track team…lol
  2. I like the way he talks about his belief that he is there to provide guidance beyond just football.
  3. We are now consistently listed in the top 5 choices of many talented recruits. Winning those battles solidifies the impression that Oregon is on the uptick. I have expectations that our defense will create problems for many teams. Defensive recruits will pay attention. If Oregon can get solid QB play the offensive scheme will grab even more attention. I know that I am excited to watch this unfold.
  4. Track and field at Oregon has always been special. Job well done.
  5. Classic commercial with Tom Glavine and Greg Maddox. Home runs are sexy and help put people in the seats. The House that Ruth built is probably a good example. I really wouldn’t know much about Oregon softball w/o some of the posts here….thanks
  6. Limiting a playoff to 4 teams definitely hurts college football. When we finally received a 4 team playoff format many cheered. However, a mythical National Championship looks better than what we have today from a monetary standpoint. The current CFP playoff system needs to be expanded, or abandoned altogether. College football has found out that simply adding teams to the playoff format is more complex when all variables that go into implementing that decision are taken into account. University of Oregon last March projected revenues of $45 million and expenses of $108 million for their athletic budget. Actual revenues are different than projections. An environment where there is less interest in college sports that generate revenue does not bode well for the long run. Conferences need to be able to pay their bills for their athletic budgets. However, in the scheme of things, the amount of money spent vs. revenue generated is problematic for many Universities. Btw…U of O had a profit of around $250,000 for 2021…tough to fund a capital replacement account with $250,000 profit.
  7. Go drive the Nurburgring with my Porsche that I picked up in Stuttgart earlier without destroying it. Then pop over to watch the 24 Hours of LeMans before driving down to Sorrento, Italy to hang on the Amalfi coast for a month or two.
  8. Solid commit. This is the type of guy that can wear down defenders as the game goes into the 4th quarter. Not much fun tackling a +225 lbs. RB all game long. Let’s see, big RB, smaller agile RBs, tall and fast receivers, QBs that can pass and run, seems like we are putting together a nice “buffet” of offensive firepower. Look forward to watching these guys in a pro style up-tempo offense that is “making football fun” for both the players and fans.
  9. Mariota had so many highlights it’s tough to remember just one. There would need to be a highlight from Kenyon Barner’s 321 rushing yards and 5 touchdown record setting effort against USC at the Coliseum. Justin Herbert’s 30 yard TD run against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
  10. Oregon is kind of the testing ground for Nike for sports uniforms of different sports. If the players think it’s cool, then I am not going to complain. No Purple, or Orange though.
  11. Paul Allen was a fan of NBA basketball that just happened to buy himself a franchise. He could of easily moved them to Seattle, but kept them in Portland. Not many owners build arenas without any government assistance. That arena allows Portland to host events that would otherwise bypass Portland. Far from the worst owner for Portland by a long shot.
  12. If they are sold they may be moved elsewhere. That would be sad. Paul Allen was a good owner to have for our franchise. Be sad if they move. Been a season ticket holder since 1987.
  13. Most beautiful car ever made could be different for everyone. I have owned Porsches for a long time. I love driving them and get a lot of compliments from people. I’ve owned 4 different 911s, and two of them have been Turbos. Fun cars to drive, handle exceptionally well, and the Turbos are stupid fast. There are faster cars, but the 911 Turbo is still stupid fast. My 911 Turbo that I currently have in the garage is below.
  14. If I were a QB I would be paying attention to where he is lining up on passing downs. He is definitely a guy you hope your running back can pick up on a blitz. Never want to know how it feels if he gets a clean shot on you running full tilt. I would love to see Sewell and Flowe stay healthy this year. Between COVID and injury I feel we missed out on some great football watching them work as a tandem.
  15. He is the son of a football coach. Probably knows more than a few people.
  16. I do believe that Butterfield will be a very good QB. He throws an accurate long ball and it has been written that his football IQ is high. Would love to see him get his chance this season. During the spring game you want to see no mistakes from the QBs. However, in that atmosphere, the QBs are trying to allow the receivers to make plays as well. They all threw some I’ll advised passes that I hope are not the norm on game day. Nix probably gets the nod at QB1. That’s really just based on the opponent and where the game is being played. His experience is tough to overcome.
  17. As long as Lanning and Dillingham have alternative plays beyond just running the ball into a loaded box and then throwing two yard swing passes to “stretch the field” we should do just fine against Utah. The 2 yard pass on 3rd and long was one of my “favorite” plays (sarcasm) to watch. Ducks definitely have more than enough talent to win. Just need the coaching to go with that talent and a QB that plays consistently well under pressure. We will see….
  18. This year our success boils down to our QB production. If our QB can avoid thinking that they need to win games all by themselves, and not force the passing game, we will be fine. Would love to see UCLA take out USC. USC fans would totally lose their minds since many are already claiming the PAC12 championship.
  19. One thing I remember watching was an introductory press conference with Lanning and Dillingham. When Dillingham stated that he wants to run 80 plays a game, Lanning followed up that comment up with somewhat of a disclaimer that framed that number up as a very high goal that might not be attained. Our defense will be formidable in the PAC 12. Therefore, if we stay healthy as a team, I believe that the offense will average closer to 40 points a game. Our QB1 may not be sitting on the bench to start the 3rd quarter, but I think there will be plenty of 4th quarter experience gained by QB2 and QB3. I believe….lol
  20. Put it into some perspective. MC is a good recruiter and I give him credit for destroying the idea that it is difficult to recruit players to Eugene. However, many of his wins were with an NFL record setting QB that he inherited. With that said, I actually think Herbert was very instrumental in getting MC the Miami job. Herbert returned for his senior season to take a shot at getting to the CFP. Unfortunately, the team came up just short. Without Herbert no PC12 title that year. Not so sure that counting the COVID year PAC12 title reflects outstanding coaching prowess. The PAC 12 has not shown well in bowl games for the last few years. The PAC 12 has been fairly weak and is struggling in football. Having watched all the coaches you point to to make a point regarding winning percentages…I will take a Belotti coached team over an MC coached team every Saturday.
  21. I believe MC can close the gap. However, I get the feeling that MC’s ceiling as a coach will not be high enough for the people bankrolling the Miami program.
  22. They might as well lay claim to the Lombardi Trophy as well. Makes about as much sense. Proving it on game day every Saturday may be a little more difficult than anointing yourselves champions before a game has been played.
  23. You knew they had to add some DL guys. Our depth looked suspect on the DL for this upcoming season. Looks like they solved that issue, and they can now allow the incoming DL freshman to redshirt. We’ve got a couple of corn fed Ducks straight from Nebraska. Welcome to Eugene gentlemen.
