  1. I would never deal with a lawyer named Woodie.
  2. What will Larry do? He'll hire lawyers for himself. This thing makes no sense though. Wilner's article says only Comcast can determine how much they should pay because the size of the payments is based on data only Comcast has access to. If that's true, how can Comcast claim they overpaid, and continued to do so for years, if they used their own data as the basis of the payments? I'm confused. In any event, that was some, at best, shoddy management going on down there. What else will come out?
  3. Why are years-old “overpayments” surfacing now? Could this have anything to do with it? Fox looking at how it paid for other rights? https://www.usnews.com/news/sports/articles/2023-01-18/testimony-lays-bare-soccers-biggest-corruption-scandal
  4. I think this is going to be a big story. Even in today's world, $50 million is a lot of money, and it went somewhere, likely somewhere it wasn't supposed to go. The two fired execs are not accused of personally keeping the money, which raises even more questions as to where the money went. Did no one else notice the extra $50 million over the years? "Overpayment" is a strange term; what does it mean? How can a "distribution partner" (FOX? ESPN?) overpay, year after year, without some sort of arrangement, likely illegal, on both sides, the conference and the partner? Whaddaya got to say about this, Larry? Have you already lawyered up?
  5. Doesn't seem possible. A part of Portland for decades who won't be forgotten.
  6. Uh-oh...this sounds very much like the (still ongoing?) FIFA bribery scandal. Where did those $50 million in over-payments go? Larry Scott? I bet the 2 PAC officials know. In soccer it has worked like this for years: media rights were purchased by bribing the equivalent of Conference officials. The broadcast rights were sold for - say - $10 million, with - for example - an extra $2 million going to the corrupt officials who made the decisions on the broadcast rights sales. All sorts of byzantine wire transfers, offshore LLCs, lying, and lavish living were involved.
  7. It appears that roster building in pro sports is easy, compared to the scene now in college athletics.
  8. The scholarship winnowing continues. Wish him the best wherever he goes.
  9. If I were Tosh Lupoi, I would be getting a strong message from this hire.
  10. Good on him, good for the Ducks. He is the master of the left upright.
  11. Isaiah Brevard enters the portal. Oregon Recruiting: WR Isaiah Brevard to enter transfer portal DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM Isaiah Brevard announced that he would enter the transfer portal on Friday. In two season, Brevard...
  12. Git 'im! He just finished his freshman year. But, maybe Georgia (and the Ducks?) are too hard.
  13. That's a great piece, thanks for posting it. All that incredible talent, so thoroughly suppressed by Cristobal. Given what the article lays out, it would seem that Herbert didn't really care that much, though; he just wanted the Ducks to win, regardless of his role in the process. He's the opposite of the "me first" athlete.
  14. Wait…I thought they deserved to be in the playoffs.
  15. Prediction that it will happen from Scoop Duck.
  16. The PAC...the conference of quarterbacks.
  17. Yep, it's gotta change. The early-signing period, the portal opening, assistant and head coaching changes, bowl game prep...it's nuts and it's too much to do well.
  18. Better hope they stay together.
  19. Revolutionary self-criticism! That's really hard to do, Charles, shows great self-awareness, and is deserving of praise. Well done.
  20. Every time USC loses, an angel gets its wings.
  21. PAC needs to rid itself of crummy teams such as USC.
