$100,000,000+ for a head coach was a factor IMO.

It would be interesting to know how many of the 'also rans' got 2 million viewers by being matched against Oregon.

The Ducks and Duck Fans are Better Off in the Pac-12 Than the B1G
McDuck replied to mrspenney's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Keep in mind that Oregon recruits nationally. A quick glance at the two deep roster shows over 30% are from outside the Pac-12 footprint + Hawaii. The same holds true for the 2023 recruiting class commitments as it now stands. While it is an advantage to have scheduled games to an area it isn't the end of the world if we don't. -
Breaking: Oregon Lands 2023 Commitment From K Grant Meadors
McDuck replied to Pennsylvania Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Totally agree based on past history. Alejandro Maldonado was highly rated, a Kohl's Kicking School All-American. We had another kicker highly ranked by Sailer Kicking Camp but forget his name. What is different now is we have Joe Lorig to coach these players up. Previously special teams almost seemed like an afterthought. -
Wouldn't U$C making the championship game make recruiting the LA area more difficult for Oregon? Lincoln Riley would sell they accomplished a top two finish in his first year and they "only need a couple more players" etc. U$C will always be a bigger threat to OBD than Utah. I look at the long term rather than a single year.

Duplicitous arrogant traitors or the team oriented blue collar workers. Easy choice UTAH.

Oregon Football is The Embodiment of Modern Physicality
McDuck replied to FishDuck Article's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I don't pretend to be a x and o maven, just a simple fan. As such it is interesting to read about the evolution and variations of the different packages in the Ducks playbook. I remember in years past Stanford used a jumbo package with great success. They lined up five star offensive linemen and four star tight ends shoulder to shoulder and, at least against Oregon, scored rather easily. Mario Cristobal would be proud. Is the Kenny Dillingham version basically a copy of what Stanford ran or is it developing into another animal altogether? For example I don't remember the Tree handing off to a tight end, just little lobs to players who dwarfed the DB trying to cover them. Are we seeing other innovations? -
Does he still work for CBS as a football analyst? The same CBS that now has a financial interest in promoting the B1G? Of course we all know the ethics of Rick Neuheisel at completely above reproach. Just remembered Dennis Dodd is also CBS, how accurate have his predictions been?

What Do You Think of the Pink Theme for UCLA Game?
McDuck replied to Flaps2's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Not a fan. Other than pandering I'm not sure of the purpose. Most sentient Americans are aware of cancer in all its ugly forms. Most have been touched by it in some form. Does adding pink to a football uniform once a year change any behavior? Does anyone turn on the TV and think "I've got to send a donation to the American Cancer Society"? If they can devise a promotion that actively encourages funding for open source cancer research count me in. Until then give me the traditional Duck green, gray, gold, yellow, black, silver, white....... -
I've read comments from a moderately well connected fan who says TT has difficulty grasping the playbook, both last year and this year. Did he operate a fairly simple system in high school and just rely on athletic ability? Sure wish I could remember the story how Chip Kelly got Dennis Dixon to see the light. This could be something similar, when the understanding comes it becomes magic.

Congrats, you nailed it.

GameDay Thread versus Arizona: Join Us!

Those were the first punt return yards of the year weren't they? -
It is the coordinators fault. Consecutive comments from CanesInsight D'Onofrio is easily the worst coordinator we've ever hired here. By a mile. Throw the fricken ball Gattis! Fire Gattis at the half Our biggest weakness, inside the 5 Gattis and his god damn run up the middle fetish.. We are such an awesome short yardage offense Is it illegal to pass inside the 10 or something?

What happened to Oklahoma? Is Brent Venables that bad? Is Lincoln Riley that good? And the day is always a little better when Brian Kelly suffers a loss, downright sunny when it is a blowout.

Listed are records as of today. I see 4-1 Mississippi State at 5-0 Alabama and 5-0 Ole Miss at 4-1 LSU as attractive candidates for Gameday. Also 4-1 Kansas State at 4-0 TCU and 3-2 Texas at 4-0 Oklahoma State are possibilities.

On Friday, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound senior three-star prospect from Palm Desert High School publicly committed to play football for the Ducks, starting in 2023. Boulton quietly committed to Ducks coaches in July, when he visited for Oregon's big Saturday Night Live event, but he waited to make it public until now. Good article Palm Desert's Bryce Boulton commits to play football at University of Oregon WWW.DESERTSUN.COM The 6-foot-3, 265-pound three-star prospect will accept a scholarship offer from Oregon, and join the football program in 2023.

Oops, someone should coordinate with the ticket office on policy. Sure looks like players dancing to Shout in yesterdays tweet.

Mike Leach can be entertaining. Mike Leach is a decent at designing X's and O's, getting wins and entertaining the fans. As mentioned above he is also a bully fired by Texas Tech for alleged player abuse. He was accused of player abuse while at WSU. Some years ago I saw a WSU post game interview. Leach was unhappy with how his OL played so as punishment he made the entire line sit for questioning that was both awkward and painful for both the reporters present and the players. Willful and premeditated public shaming of 18-22 year old kids that didn't live up to your expectations is not OK in my book.

Ducks Have a New Player Going in the First Round of the NFL Draft
McDuck replied to Tandaian's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Any list that has the Tanner McKee I saw last weekend as the ninth overall NFL draft pick is suspect IMO. -
The moment the traitors in baby blue announced they were B1G bound this question lost all relevance.
